How much CBD should you take?

It’s hard to tell with CBD just how much will work for you, and we’re going to explore ways you can ease into finding what works best for you, as well as why CBD is so tricky to work out the amount you need.

First of all we have to acknowledge that CBD works in a radically different way to other supplements - interacting on an extremely direct route from when you take it straight into your nervous and endocrine systems via something called the endocannabinoid system. The human body has a strange connection to hemp and cannabinoids which we’re only really on the brink of properly understanding.

What this means for the CBD user is their nervous system may interact with the supplement in different and diverse ways, even changing over time or over certain times of the month - not just women have a ‘cycle’ that controls how we feel - men have a similar, if less observed, monthly mood cycle that has a connection to the nervous system and hormones.

So with all of this in mind, how much CBD should you take? Well, the answer is that experimenting is up to you. But to start with, we suggest considering our standard CBD 2.5% drops and taking one two drops at a time. If it’s not giving a noticeable effect after the first few tries, you can increase in small increments, say take 3 or 4 drops. If it’s not working after a while it’s not a cause for alarm, it’s not unheard of for this to happen - try changing the time of day or the way you’re taking it, or taking it after a meal - and results may change.

CBD fortunately doesn’t cause overdose, allergic reactions or other hospitalisation problems, so you can keep upping the amount until you find what works for you. Some people have reported the usefulness of the supplement at as low as a few drops daily, which just shows how much it can vary. There really is no concrete guide on getting CBD to work best for you, because there is also no concrete guide on the human body. We’re all unique when it comes down to our physical and nervous properties, so using CBD has to be a personalised process for everyone. Try it yourself and see if you can find that sweet spot.
